Crystals are used in the same way that casting stones are. Contrary to the fortune tellers in old movies, crystal balls do not open as a window to show scenes of what is happening, or what is to come.

The crystal ball is used as a focal point for divination just like cards in tarot readings. Amethyst balls are of a shade that serves to unlock the mind in order to receive universal intellect. Wicca’s call the practice of gazing into crystal balls, scrying.

To practice scrying relax completely, make your mind blank, and focus your attention on the crystal ball. By relaxing and staying focused on the question, you will be able to see an image or hear an answer. Many psychic readers say that they see visions in their crystal balls. A form of divinations which can be accomplished by using large stones.

Using Pendulums:

Pendulums can be an invaluable tool used for yes or no answers. A weight hung by a string or a chain is called a pendulum.

They themselves don’t move the pendulum, but they make an inquiry and the pendulum starts to sway to and fro, signalling a response. Using in pendulums in tarot readings is also an option that psychics use in their readings.

One version of this fortune-telling technique has been employed on expecting mothers for a long time. A needle is threaded and the psychic person will hold the thread over the abdomen of the pregnant woman and ask what the baby will be. The best way to tell if the baby is a boy is if the needle swings side to side or back and forth. If the needle swings in a circle of it’s own volition, the baby will be a girl.

Psychic readings and Tarot readings can be done with several different methods each of which is unique and different.

Many people want to dream lucidly. If you’re among them, the first thing you need to think about is how you want to go about learning.

Knowing why you have chosen to pursue lucid dreaming is important. How can it benefit ou personally? To know this we can work backwards from what it considered normal sleep.

Have you ever considered the process of sleep before? Every night you make preparations, crawl into bed and go to sleep. You may have dreams or nightmares or all may just be dark for a few hours, it is rather boring isn’t it?

Instead of having to observe passively, you could be the person who leads your dream to be whatever you would like.

Lucid dreamers are in complete control of their dreams. This allows them to explore new worlds in their mind and expand the scope of their dreams. Lucid dreamers can also conscious choose not to have nightmares - they just change the dream.

So if you want to become a lucid dreamer how do you do it? There are actually two ways. The first way is having a dream-initiated lucid dream (DILD), which is where the dreamer is in a dream and then realizes that they are, restoring their sense of consciousness within the dream.

The second method is called WILD, and stands for wake-initiated lucid dream. This is when you start out awake and fall asleep, but do not experience a change in consciousness levels. This is the process of simply entering a dream, the same way you’d walk through a door, instead of waking up inside the dream.

How exactly do you induce either one of these lucid dream states?

Dream Recall

A simple place to start when you would like to lucid dream is in dream recall. This is where you can remember and perhaps recite your dream in part or in whole. You are very likely to have the same dream more than once in your life and being able to remember them will alert you the next time you have that particular dream.

To make dream recall easier you can keep a dream journal. This is a notebook or pad of paper that has the sole purpose of recording your dreams. Whenever you have a dream, you should write all you can remember in the journal as soon as you wake up. The longer you are awake the more details of the dream that will be lost.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams (MILD)

This is a technique that was developed by Dr. Stephen LaBerge, one of the lead scientists studying lucid dreaming. The intent here is to simply tell yourself that you will remember something, like an object for example and then in the dream, when you see this object you will realize it is a dream.

Wake-Back-to-Bed (WBTB)

The process here is to go to sleep, doing nothing but setting your alarm to wake you up a few hours later (5 or 6). Once you wake up, DO NOT go back to sleep. Instead, do something else like read for a while, or think as much as you can about lucid dreaming for around an hour then go back to bed.

According to Stephen LaBerge, there is a 60% success rate of this technique. The reason why is that you would have woken up during the process of sleep, meaning that your mind is not fully aware of this, and are still in the middle of REM cycle. So basically, it’s like going to your mind and telling it that you want to lucid dream.

Cycle Adjustment Technique

As the name suggests this technique is all about cycling your sleep. Go to bed at your normal time but for a week set an alarm to wake you one and a half hours early. You should continue to do this for around 7 days. Once your body has settled somewhat into this routine, begin to alternate your wake up times. One day normal, wake up time the next early, on your normal days you will be trying to wake up early and should increase lucid dream chances.

Wake-initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD)

This method was mentioned above. To achieve a lucid dream using it, all that’s needed is keeping your mind awake while your body falls asleep. This is one of the most interesting ways of having a lucid dream. It’s as if you’re getting ready to watch a movie - you start in the real world, sitting on the couch, and turn on the television and press play (when you start to sleep). The screen begins black, just like when your eyes are closed, and all you need to do is wait for the movie or dream to start.

A number of ways to stay aware are counting, imagine climbing or descending stairs, chant, control your breathing, count your breaths, and concentrate on relaxing the body from their toes to head. (This all falls under the term ’self hypnosis’.) It is best to do this when you are not tired, like in the afternoon.

Recent technological advances mean that dreaming masks and other useful devices have been developed. They contain strobe lights and other devices that are believed to induce lucid dreaming.

Definitely the easiest and most reliable way of inducing a lucid dream however is by listening to binaural beats sound frequencies via headphones.

These work by synchronizing your brain’s two hemispheres. They almost instantly allow your brain waves to reach the frequency that occurs in REM sleep and which is needed for you to be a lucid dreamer.

Combined with the self hypnosis sessions and affirmations to prepare your subconscious mind beforehand, becoming a lucid dreamer is something that everyone can now experience!
